Peninsula tour
Full-day seat-in-coach excursion
This full-day tour takes you to the southernmost tip of Africa along some of the world’s most spectacular coastal scenery.
We leave Cape Town to drive along the Atlantic side of the peninsula past Clifton, where you will find the trendiest beaches on the peninsula, Camps Bay, Llandudno, Hout Bay (with its long sandy beach and busy fishing harbour, from which you may wish to take a cruise to Seal Island*) and along Chapman’s Peak Drive – a nine-kilometre journey that follows the rocky coastline to reveal stunning views to Chapman’s Bay, Kommetjie and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where amongst the cape’s unique flora can be seen baboons, buck and an amazing variety of birdlife.
After lunch* we visit Simon’s Town, founded in 1743, a pretty town with attractive Victorian and Cape Dutch houses and now a major base for the South African navy, before travelling on to Boulders Beach, where Jackass penguins splash in the clear, shallow waters, amongst the gigantic rocks that give the bay its name.
*Cost not included in the tour.
