Murree - ‘Queen of the Hills’
Full-day chauffeur-driven private car excursion
Murree, known as the ‘Queen of the Hills’, is an hour’s drive north-east of Islamabad. The hills are an offshoot of the Himalayan range of mountains. It was built during the time of the British Raj, for officials to escape the summer heat and humidity of Rawalpindi.
The main attractions of Murree are its natural scenery and invigorating atmosphere. It is an ideal place for a family getaway and vacation. With its neighbouring hill stations – Patriata, Ayubia, Nathia Gali, Bhurban and Khanspur, the area offers many delightful spots for picnics, mountain hiking and trekking.
The area around Patriata, a resort about 15 kilometres south-east of Murree, has been developed in recent years and provides excellent hiking and trekking paths. A scenic two-stage cable car takes visitors to the 2,223 metres high Patriata Ridge with breathtaking views of high forests, deep intersecting valleys and terraced slopes.
There is plenty of time to stroll around the town and indulge in a variety of handicraft shops on the famous Mall Road, where curios, traditional clothing items, head wear, carved walking sticks, jewellery items and leather goods are available.
