A morning tour of Auckland’s most spectacular city sights combined with an afternoon wilderness experience make for a fascinating journey of contrasts.
Your morning tour takes in Queen Street, Auckland’s ‘Golden Mile’, stunning views of the harbour and yacht marina from the Harbour Bridge and a visit to the Auckland Domain, a large area of parkland. From here you travel to the summit of Mt Eden, the city’s most prominent volcanic cone, from where there are 360 degree panoramas of the city and harbour.
The afternoon takes you on our wilderness experience. Just 30 kilometres from downtown are the Waitakere Ranges, Auckland’s coastal rainforest. Here, guarded by magnificent Maori carvings, is the Arataki Centre, perched high on a ridge and providing breathtaking views from the Tasman Sea to the Pacific Ocean.
After journeying on to the rugged west coast with its spectacular black sand beaches, we head into the lush rainforest where you can walk easy bush tracks. You get a chance to walk through and marvel at the Kauri trees – amongst the most ancient living things on earth, some are believed to be as old as 2,000 years.
