Chamonix and Mont Blanc

Full-day seat-in coach excursion with lunch

This exciting tour to the roof of Europe commences in Geneva with a 90-minute drive by motor coach through the picturesque Arve Valley, occupied by humankind since Neolithic times, to Chamonix, in the French province of Haute-Savoie.

This vibrant alpine town boasts a cosmopolitan atmosphere and a wonderful architectural heritage. Chamonix, the site of the first Winter Olympics, is spectacularly located at the foot of the majestic 4,807 metres Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe.

At the centre of Chamonix you board the Aiguille du Midi cable-car, the highest vertical ascent cable-car in the world, which climbs from 1,035 to 3,842 metres – an altitude gain of over 2,800 metres in just 20 enthralling minutes. The first section takes you on a wonderful aerial voyage up to the 2,300 metres Plan de l’Aiguille, providing magnificent views of the Arve Valley. The second stage crosses Les Pelerins glacier before rising up the North Face to the top station, Piton Nord, at 3,842 metres. Here several terraces offer 360 degree views of the stupendous panorama of the Chamonix Valley, Mont Blanc as well as the whole of its massif and the major peaks of the Swiss, French and Italian Alps. On a clear day it is possible to see the Matterhorn, Mont Rosa and the Grand Combin, as well as, if you are fortunate, climbers linked by ropes trying to reach one of these summits. You can take a break at the Le 3842 Restaurant (one of the highest in the world), a well-appointed cafeteria and a souvenir shop.

Also from the top station is an elevator inside the rock rising the final 42 metres to the top terrace – the closest you can get to the summit of Mont Blanc without climbing! (Access to the lift is not included in the price of the return ticket).

This is a coach excursion and includes lunch and cable-car to Aiguille du Midi.

You must be in possession of your passport, as we will be crossing the French border.
