Rhine Valley
Full-day private excursion from Frankfurt with lunch
On this unforgettable day trip you will see Rhine River winding its way through the Taunus hills, its gorges lined by ancient villages, white-washed houses covered with wisteria and lacy iron balconies, needle-sharp church spires, historic palaces, forbidding mediaeval castles perched on top of vertical crags and terraced rows of vines.
At Rüdesheim you will enjoy stupendous views from the Niederwald Monument, an enormous bronze statue of Germania erected by Kaiser Wilhelm in 1883 towering over 37 metres above the hilltop before descending (by the optional cable car if you wish) to the valley for lunch at a riverside restaurant.
In the afternoon, you board your Rhine steamer for a cruise along one of the most spectacular stretches of the river to St Goarshausen, where we arrange a tasting session of the local Riesling wine. En route you will see the Loreley Rock, a 130-metre high outcrop overlooking the notorious Bingener Hole, where the mighty river narrows to just 115 metres.
This is a private chauffeur-driven car excursion and includes pick-up and drop-off at your hotel, English-speaking guide, lunch, wine tasting and a Rhine steamer cruise (without guide but with English commentary). In winter, when steamers are not operating, you may visit a castle instead.
