Places of interestMount Nebo is situated west of Madaba on the edge of the plateau and on a clear day it is possible to see the Dead Sea and the spires of the churches; Lot’s Sanctuary, a historic cave located on Modern Safi set on a hill by a tiny spring overlooking the Dead Sea; the Mujib Nature Reserve, the ruined Roman city of Jerash which was discovered in 1806, Madaba with its ancient mosaics of the Byzantine era makes an excellent day trip. The most interesting mosaic is in the Greek Orthodox church of St George.
